Each year, thousands of young people across the United States die in car crashes.  Sadly, many of them don't wear their seatbelts.  The Citrus County Sheriff's Office needs YOUR help in getting the message out -- Buckle Up, Citrus County!  It's the law.
In 2008, the Citrus County School Board and the Citrus County Sheriff's Office teamed up to teach middle school students about seat belt safety through a grant provided by Florida Learn & Serve.  During the project, students learned about the importance of wearing a seat belt through research and class activities.  The students worked in groups and were assigned the task of creating their own commercials on seat belt safety.  Upon completion, the "skits" were judged and the winners were filmed by a professional film crew.

We hope you enjoy viewing the seat belt safety commercials on our web site.  We at the Sheriff's Office and the School Board are very proud of the students' accomplishments and plan to use the commercials to help educate other youngsters about the dangers of not wearing a seat belt.
