Joe Casola

Joe started in a career in law enforcement in 1994 as a Patrol Officer with the City of Crystal River Police Department (FL). In January 2001, he joined the Citrus County Sheriff's Office working as a Deputy in the Patrol Division. He currently holds the rank of Captain as the Division Commander of the Professional Standards and Communications Division.

Over the course of his career, he has worked in various positions within the Patrol Division. Joe started as a deputy, then later was assigned to the agency traffic unit as a Motor Deputy. He was eventually promoted to Corporal of the traffic unit. In 2013, Joe was promoted to Patrol Sergeant and became a Field Training Unit Sergeant. He transferred to the East District as the East Operations Sergeant supervising Community Crimes and Domestic Violence Detectives.

In 2017, Joe was promoted to the rank of Patrol Lieutenant and then Lieutenant over the agency’s Field Training Squads. Since 2011, Joe has also been an Adjunct Instructor at the Citrus County Public Safety Training Center at Withlacoochee Technical College. He is a certified instructor in several FDLE courses, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration, and is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officer’s Course.

In his spare time, Joe enjoys spending time outdoors and riding motorcycles. He also supports the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranch, United Way, Jessie's Place, Take Stock in Children, Special Olympics, and Shop with a Cop. Joe is also an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
