To be considered for employment with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, the following qualifications apply to all positions: 

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Minimum age requirement is 18 years of age. For the Deputy Sheriff (sworn) position minimum age is 19 years of age.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States
  • Must reside in Citrus County or an adjoining county
  • If applicable, honorable discharge from the military
  • Applicants may be required to pass a skills test based on the position
  • Successfully pass a background investigation
  • Undergo a truth verification analysis and, for sworn positions, a psychological evaluation
  • Satisfactorily complete a medical examination, including drug screen
  • Meet the essential job functions, including physical requirement, with or without accommodation
