BECKY SMITH RETIRES AFTER 30 YEARS OF SERVICE
(Citrus County, FL) Today, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) recognizes the many accomplishments of Transcriber Becky Smith as she retires from 30 years of faithful service to the citizens of Citrus County.
Becky began her career with CCSO in September of 1991 as a Canteen Clerk, although one year later, she realized her passion for numbers and joined our Finance department as an Accounting Clerk. She continued in this role until 1999, where she transitioned into her new position as a Budget Clerk, while simultaneously earning her Master’s degree in Business Administration.
Becky has been invaluable in our Transcribing unit, aiding in the creation and accuracy verification of case reports. Her role in this department supported the very pillar of our law enforcement operations as it allowed deputies to complete reports with a quick turnaround time so they could focus more on responding to calls for service and proactively patrolling our community.
Throughout her career, Becky has exemplified our core value, service above self. She has supported numerous causes throughout our community which exemplify her devotion to our mission and was recently honored with a Certificate of Commendation for her role in Operation Coin Toss; a successful yearlong campaign targeting drug dealers in Citrus County which resulted in historic, record-breaking busts.
“Ms. Smith has truly been a knowledgeable and adaptive part of our team for three decades. We are privileged to have worked alongside her,” said Sheriff Prendergast. “Stay safe, and we wish you the best in your future aspirations.”
Please join us in congratulating Becky Smith on her noteworthy career and well-earned retirement.
